Lansing is one of the suburbs outside of Chicago.
My wife and I both work in Chicago, but we live in Lansing. This suburb is just south of Chicago and a short drive to both of our jobs. The kids attend school in a private school in Lansing. All three of the children attend the same school, so pickup and drop-off are easy on both of us. My wife works at a hospital in downtown Chicago. She has the longest commute between the two of us. She needs to drive about 45 minutes to the hospital, but it only takes me 30 minutes to get to the HVAC company where I work. The HVAC company is one of multiple service providers in the Lansing area. When I started working in HVAC repairs, I worked for a small business owned by one person. I worked with the company for multiple years and then I found a job working for this commercial HVAC business. We service all of Lansing, Chicago, and the entirety of Cook County. I have a very flexible schedule with the business and that allows me to be able to drop off the kids and pick them up from school. If my wife needs to stay at the hospital for any reason, I can easily leave work and take care of the kids. Having flexibility is a huge perk when you have a busy lifestyle and children in school. I wouldn’t be able to attend games and matches if I had a job where the boss was always strict about the schedule.
