I’m 25 years old now. I’m glad my dad doesn’t work as hard as he did when I was a kid. He used to work as a repairman and he would be gone six days a week from morning until after my sister and I went to sleep. We didn’t get to see dad unless it was summer vacation. About 5 years ago, my dad got a promotion and different job working at the commercial HVAC installation company in Lakeland, Florida. The job put him in an office instead of out in the field working. My dad has to go on business trips now when there is a contract that needs to be drawn up, signed, or worked out. My dad was on the west coast for a couple of days and I went to pick him up from the airport in Lakeland last night. It was Friday night and the worst night of the week for traveling in the city. My dad wanted to get home before the weekend was over so he could see my mom and spend Mother’s Day with her. He wasn’t supposed to come home till Sunday but I picked him up from the airport on Friday so he could surprise my mom. It took almost 90 minutes to get from the airport in Lakeland back to our house. We sat in standstill traffic for nearly 30 minutes after an accident happened on the freeway right near Lake Parker.
